Biografía

There was a time when the word swing was on everyones lips. It may mean nothing to you now, yet for ten years, from 1935 to 1945, jazz was the in thing in a big way. That was the Swing Era, that blessed epoch of the big bands, whose sounds enticed thousands onto vast dance floors the time when Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald were merely singers in the band, and when Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and Count Basie could do no wrong.

In its way, swing was already setting the hedonist and celebratory scene for a certain form of clubbing. Harlem home of the Savoy and the famous Cotton Club witnessed the emergence of tap dancing and the acrobatic dancing styles spawned by the Lindy Hop, which prefigured todays black styles such as breakdancing and hip hop astonishingly closely.

Deploying original samples as jumping-off points, the G-Swing collective is proud to present totally re-invented swing hits that they have cooked up in their project studios. Read more on Last.fm.
